Overview
KAI provides logistical support for U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology as it develops, plans, and executes its two-day virtual annual meeting. This event convenes federal partners, health IT professionals, the health care industry, and the technology sector to discuss subjects such as patient matching, standards measurement, and advancement of interoperability.
Challenges
KAI had to quickly transition from an in-person to a virtual meeting, which required researching, identifying, and deploying solutions to mimic the face-to-face interactions crucial to the annual meeting.
Solution
KAI provided logistics and planning assistance, including facilitation, website and materials development, and arranging travel and lodging when necessary. KAI contracted with Intrado to provide technical support, engineers, and other professionals for the virtual platform.
Results
The 2021 and 2022 ONC annual meetings were held virtually, but the Intrado platform allowed for the look and feel of an in-person event, including the networking, exhibitors, and intrasession browsing. More than 4,000 people attended in total, and each had more sessions planned than prior events.
