Karol is Deg Hit’an Athabascan and an enrolled tribal member. She has a BA in economics from the University of Alaska Anchorage, a JD from the University of New Mexico School of Law, and an MPH from Johns Hopkins University. She has also achieved Improvement Advisor status with the Institute for Healthcare Improvement. Karol brings significant experience working with Medicaid, Medicaid waiver programs, and public health and tribal health organizations. She has managed health programs from planning and design through implementation and evaluation, including ensuring compliance with federal, state, and nonprofit requirements. She has a personal commitment to health and well-being. Recently, Karol started playing pickleball. She enjoys spending time outside, hiking, camping, and traveling.
